London Olympics 2012 Venues

There are about 35 London Olympics 2012 venues in all. Most of these London Olympics 2012 venues are spread over London, but there are also a few in other cities such as Cardiff and Coventry. The main venue for the London Olympics 2012 and the Paralympics is the Olympic Park.

There will also be events held at such famous venues as Horse Guards Parade, Hyde Park and Lord's Cricket Ground. Do not worry, the London Olympics 2012 venues will take you to the best sights that London and a few other cities have to offer.

There are basically four sorts of London Olympics 2012 venues, but one of those sorts of venues is not in London and the other is not really about sport. Let me explain.

Nine of the London Olympics 2012 venues are within the Olympic Park, which is located in the centre of London. The main sports that will be played there are swimming, diving, basketball, BMX bike racing, tennis, handball, hockey, football, track events, cycle racing and water polo.

The Olympic Park was purpose built for the London 2012 games, but the venue did not exist before. This is not true of the other London Olympics 2012 venues. That is to say that the areas existed but the facilities are brand-new. The thirteen 'other' venues featuring at the London 2012 Olympics are famous in their own right.

Most of them have old historical links that many people from all over the world will have heard of. There are names like: Earls Court, Greenwich Park, Hampton Court, Horse Guards Parade, Hyde Park, Lord's Cricket Ground, North Greenwich, The Mall, The Royal Artillery Barracks, Wembley Arena, Wembley Stadium and Wimbledon.

Breath-taking names, many of which have featured longer in British history than dozens of countries have existed. The sense of history in these Olympics 2012 venues is second in importance only to the games being played there.

Try to stop yourself visiting a museum or getting a thrill from sitting in Lord's, Wembley Stadium or Wimbledon.

What about the majesty of Hampton Court, Horse Guards Parade, The Mall, and the Royal Artillery Barracks? Who has not heard of Speakers' Corner in Hyde Park? These London Olympics 2012 venues are the most historic of any Olympic Games since Mount Olympus itself.

These London Olympics 2012 venues will hold events such as volley ball, boxing, judo and other martial arts, table tennis, weight lifting, archery, basketball, diving, gymnastics, running, cycling, archery, shooting, racquet games, football and tennis.

The out-of-London Olympics 2012 venues are at: Coventry, Eton Dorney, Hadleigh Farm, Hampden Park, Lee Valley, the Cardiff Millennium Stadium, Old Trafford, St James' Park and Weymouth and Portland.

These venues are also famous and the Olympic and Paralympic game that will be played at these out-of-London Olympics 2012 venues are: football, rowing, canoeing, cycling and sailing.s

The last two locations are vital although they are non-sporting. They are also within the Olympic Park and are the Athletes' Village, which will be home for 17,000 athletes, their support staff, committees, organisers, medics, managers et cetera and the other is the IBC/MPC, which stands for International Broadcast Centre/Main Press Centre.

So, if you are going to these London Olympics 2012 venues, you will have plenty of choice, but please check with the competition schedule on the official Olympic Games 2012 website for the exact details about the sports, the tickets and the dates.
